Welcome to BacPath 2026, set against the stunning backdrop of Busselton in the Margaret River region of Western Australia! As Australia's leading conference on bacterial pathogenesis, BacPath brings together researchers exploring the fundamental mechanisms of bacterial infection and translating these insights into innovative strategies for infectious disease intervention.
We are thrilled to bring together leading experts and emerging scientists from around the world to share the latest breakthroughs in bacterial virulence, host–pathogen interactions, and innovative therapeutic approaches. This year, we are especially proud to encourage presentations by early career researchers, providing them with an exceptional platform to showcase their work, build confidence, and receive valuable feedback. Alongside the exciting scientific program, the conference offers outstanding opportunities for networking, mentorship, and professional development, helping attendees make connections, enhance skills in scientific communication, and advance their careers, all while enjoying the inspiring natural beauty of the Margaret River region. Join us for an unforgettable experience of cutting-edge science, collaboration, and community.
What is BacPath and what do we value?
BacPath is the Australian premiere biennial molecular bacteriology meeting that has an exclusive focus on bacterial pathogens. We explore the full spectrum of molecular microbiology from fundamental research to translational applications.
Our meetings have been running in Australia for more than two decades and provide an ideal forum for the Australian molecular bacteriology community to congregate and share their latest research findings.
We take pride in providing postgraduate students and early career researchers (ECRs) oral presentation opportunities at BacPath meetings, allowing them to present to our delegates from academia, research institutions and industry.
Networking and career-building is also strongly valued, our programs therefore include plenty of time for delegates to exchange ideas with peers and expand their professional networks.
